Open the capture controls
On a Windows laptop, press Windows + Shift + S. Choose the rectangular capture option and drag across the part of the screen you want to capture.
Review and save
Open the Snipping Tool notification to inspect the image, crop it if needed and save a copy in a folder you can find again. If the shortcut is unavailable, search for Snipping Tool from Start.
Check before sharing
Look for account names, private messages, browser tabs or other details around the edge of the image. Crop or properly redact anything that should not be shared. These instructions are for Windows; a Chromebook uses different controls.
